Collaging is a way for me to have a more tactile experience with sketching. For me, cutting the paper and arranging the pieces is a quicker way to get my ideas out and down. I don’t have to erase or worry about “messing up”, I can just cut, arrange and move things around in a more organic nature. I also enjoy the like quality/character from the scissors vs. drawing the shapes by hand. They don’t always inform my paintings, but do sometimes!
